Sunday August 27th
Cyd and Dad drove to Sunrise in Mt Rainier National Park and hiked into
Mt Fremont fire lookout. It was a hot day and there was no shade. The
building looked out over the north region of the park. Grand Park can
be clearly seen. To the northwest the Natural Bridge can be seen with
binoculars if you know where to look. Smoke from the forest fire near
the Carbon River can be seen and smelled. Two elderly volunteer park
rangers hiked in, opened the lookout and raised the flag. We were
entertained by a pair of small hawks during our walk. An ice cream
cone at the visitor center was a good way to end our day.
