Herb was a motion picture photographer who took as his subject the Olympic Mountains, their natural beauty and wildlife. He had spent summer after summer filming the Olympic high country. Lois had been a University of Washington English instructor who on their marriage gave up her career to join him in the wild. She, an ardent conservationist and writer, shared his rugged mountain treks."  Ruby El Hult
