California Trip to see Ross

January 26 to February 4, 2011

We slept in Saturday and left for California in the Eurvan around 2:00PM. Our first night was spent in Oregon's Canyonville Holiday Inn Express. Night two was on the I5 coridor about 50 miles north of Bakersfield. We reached Canyon Country and Ross around noon. We unloaded the futon and the rest of his stuff. He showed us the apartment and around town. Troy and Vlad came home from work and we met their pets. Dux, Zilla the Iguana, and Charlotte the Taranchala and parackeet. The next monring we played the Mountain course at the Robinson Ranch. There was a $50 charge for Cyd to ride along with us. They let her go for $25. After golf we headed for the coast. We took tour number two at Hearst's Castle. Night four was at Half Moon Bay after watching the sunset on Monterey Bay. We crossed the Golden Gate Bridge and drove out to a lighthouse on the bay. The gate to it was locked. The same afternoon we met Andrew at his rental house and he took us out to Fountaingrove golf course in Santa Rosa. A beautiful private course. We headed back to the coast at Bodega Bay. This little village was the backdrop for the movie the "Birds". We drove north and stayed in a little place called Gualala. The next day we drove 10 hours, back to I5 and spent the night in Eugene Oregon. We arrived home about 2:00PM on Saturday. The total distance traveled was over 2500 miles. The Eurovan did great.

Full size Elk models. His elk trailer was rear ended while we were getting gas in Weed California on our second day.
Guisties from Drivers, Drive-Ins and Dives. Just south of Sacramento about 4 miles off I5.
The salad with great salami. I had my first "Stella" beer here. Great stuff.
