November 17th, 2008 |
Today we took a day hike on the Twin Falls Trail. It was out side of Noth Bend across the freeway from the truck stop. The group included Jim Stage, John and Joan Winslow, Don Snyder, Dan Walker, Fred Vaness and myself. The trail was in great shape. Ferns were growing in the moss that hugged many of the trees. The bridge over the falls was sturdily constructed and the falls were spectacular. We lunched at the John Wayne Trail. These are Jim Stages pictures. |

Geoff Viguers joined the group for the first time today. And I made my return after 5 months. We met at Jim's Stage's home in West Seattle. After discussing several routes we headed over to the new developement construction project of the government housing near the water towers. Single family dwellings to retirement condominiums. We walked through a hard hat area and were given the evil eye by a few workers. Camp Long is closed only on Mondays so we circled back to Jim's and rode down to Alki Point. After pizza and beer at Pegasus Pizza we walked the water front. Two Purse Seiners were fishing not far off the beach and three Coast Guard boats appeared to be doing some training. It was heavily overcast, but tolerable wind and sun breaks. A great day for a walk. |

Kirkland and it's waterfront. Dan organized a walk through town and a couple of Kirkland's parks. Stan Wyse came over from Yarrow Bay to meet us for lunch. John called John Rodgers and he met us for lunch too. Beautiful day with some grand houses along the route. |

The BUMS walked Magnuson Park on Lake Washington. We met at John's house. Dan was delayed and found us at the park. Sorry - I forgot my camera. The former Sand Point Naval Station is undergoing a lot of construction. There is a large dog park, pea patch and an interesting artsy arrangement of submarine coning tower fins. |
